Deeply rooted in China, Cheung Kong GSB features resident faculty who carefully track the latest trends in business, research issues of vital importance to Chinese business and provide solutions with global applicability.

The financial support of the Li Ka-shing (overseas) Foundation, combined with the autonomy enabled by the "faculty-governance", and the ambition to "build a world class business school for China" have attracted a world-class faculty from some of the best known business schools in the world, including Harvard, Wharton, Stanford, Yale, Chicago, Columbia, University of California Berkeley, and INSEAD. The synergy between their proficiency in management theory and their extensive teaching experience gives them a unique perspective from which to apply western strategies to emerging markets. Grouped into research centers like "The Cheung Kong Research Institute", "The Cheung Kong Case Center" and "The Cheung Kong GSB Humanities Committee ", faculty members are fully empowered to conduct original research on the unique characteristics of Chinese business and provide forward looking solutions with global impact.

Proprietary Curriculum Developed Exclusively for Chinese Business

Innovative Courses on Humanities - the first in the Global Business Education

Building solidly on a global perspective, the original curriculum developed at Cheung Kong GSB incorporates the latest management theories and their application to Chinese business.

In response to the real needs of Chinese business leaders, Cheung Kong GSB has created an original curriculum, paying special attention to the development of vision, strategy and tactics.

In addition to lectures and case studies, students in the Cheung Kong EMBA program have the freedom to customize their learning experience with electives that fit their individual interests:

  • The "Humanities and Management" module, unique to Cheung Kong GSB, is designed to nurture humanitarian values in students as they strive to become the true leaders of Chinese business
  • The "International Residency Program" takes students to the most developed economies of the world in order to inspire future growth opportunities for the Chinese business
  • The "Proprietary Curriculum" presents new courses developed at Cheung Kong GSB that emphasize the application of management theory to China
  • The "Self-improvement and Self-management” module aims to teach students how to maintain their health, physical and mental, and improving their quality of life

To supplement this management education, Cheung Kong GSB created the Cheung Kong Research Institute, the Cheung Kong Case Center and the Cheung Kong GSB Humanities Committee.

The Cheung Kong Research Institute conducts systematic research on Chinese enterprises with a focus on key issues in competition and growth. Building upon individual cases, the Research Center endeavors to create the richest knowledge bank of optimized solutions for Chinese businesses facing globalization.

The Cheung Kong Case Center is dedicated to the creation of business cases. It serves the dual purposes of creating teaching materials and connecting the Chinese business community to the research capabilities at Cheung Kong GSB. The Case Center is uniquely able to apply global perspectives and insights of emerging markets to case analysis of either new Chinese enterprises or to existing business cases. Featuring innovation, impact, pragmatism, the cases created at the Case Center will play a pivotal role in the creation of new visions, thinking, and solutions for Chinese business and China-based MNCs.

The Cheung Kong GSB Humanities Committee is led by the renowned philosopher Wei-ming TU, with guest speakers drawn from the "Dialogue among Civilizations" group at the United Nations. By systematically exploring the essence of Confucianism, Greek Philosophy, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam with students, Cheung Kong GSB creates leaders who are not only world-class business leaders, but who care for the future development of society and civilization.

It is the hope of Cheung Kong GSB that its students are not only the creators of material wealth, but also meaningful contributors to the advancement of humanity.

The Cheung Kong EMBA program views its students like family members. In addition to knowledge acquisition and vision building, students are able to take full advantage of its national network of alumni chapters throughout their professional and personal life.

The alumni network is the home for all alumni. Officially launched September 25th, 2005, the Cheung Kong GSB Alumni Association is larger than all its other Chinese business school counterparts, is run by current students and alumni, and enjoys full autonomy in its management.

  • The alumni association effectively connects business elites in all geographic locations across China. The network was started off with its headquarters in Beijing and the following chapters launched soon after, here listed in chronological order: Sichuan, Shanghai, Guangdong, Henan, Xinjiang, Shandong, Qingdao, Northeast China, Shaanxi, Chongqing, Central-South China, Jiangsu and Zhejiang.
  • The association facilitates communications in various dimensions. In addition to regional chapters, it includes clubs based on the interests and professions of its members. Clubs such as Finance, Media, Real Estate, IT, Golf, and Mountaineering host regular events, where members socialize and find inspirations in the common activities.
  • Additional extracurricular activities are created by The Cheung Kong EMBA program and the alumni association. Students are free to choose from themed discussions, lectures by experts, forums, art shows, networking sessions, golf tournaments, variety shows, soccer games, and many others.
  • Life-time learning opportunity after EMBA completion. Cheung Kong GSB offers "The Post-EMBA curriculum", a series of tailor-made classes for the senior managers.
