China is rising—what does this mean to you? From commodities markets to climate change, from continuing education to consumer goods, the role of China is growing increasingly decisive in every industry across the globe. Visionary business leaders must be able to identify and understand these shifting currents, which will enable them to seize opportunities in China and beyond. Join Cheung Kong to learn how.

China Residency Program

Cheung Kong GSB offers a unique opportunity for students of select business schools to broaden and deepen their understanding of current developments in China. A full week solely devoted to learning both in and outside the classroom forms the basis for a comprehensive grasp of China's path of reform, its most recent developments, and prospects and risks for the future.

Key sources of learning:

  • Our professors deliver unique insights on global business in China that others would be hard-pressed to match. Their perspective combines world-class research and teaching experience at top universities in North America and Europe with enduring roots in China and continuous engagement with global business trends.
  • Our links to industry take you onsite to learn from senior executives at leading domestic and international enterprises. Candid conversations sharing management experiences can provide new understanding in how business is conducted on either side of the world, be it similar or vastly different.
  • Our pioneering students open a window into the social and economic trends in China that will shape the decades ahead. In the classroom or around the dinner table, communication among peers is enlightening for all sides.

Our Campuses

For the China Residency Program, Cheung Kong GSB can provide state-of-the art campuses in both Beijing and Shanghai, where lecture rooms can be equipped to host up to 70 students. Both cities, so different in history, culture, and climate, will play leading roles in shaping the future of China for decades to come. In keeping with our goal to be China's leading institution devoted to generating and communicating business knowledge, Cheung Kong GSB is laying a strong foundation for the future in both cities and their surrounding regions.

About Beijing

The capital of China for much of the past 600 hundred years, Beijing is the political, educational, and cultural center of the nation. As the location of the central government, the nation's top universities, and the cutting edge of artistic activity, the city is one of the most dynamic in the world. With the approach of the 2008 Olympics and the opportunity to showcase China to the global community, the face of the capital is undergoing extraordinarily rapid change. Sights from the imperial period like the Forbidden City, Great Wall, and narrow hutong lanes are now juxtaposed with avant-garde construction projects whose designs seem to defy gravity. Despite the accelerating changes, there is no question that Beijing continues to represent the very heart of China, both ancient and modern.

About Shanghai

Lying near the mouth of China's longest river and namesake of our school, Shanghai stands at the forefront of the revolutionary changes taking place in the Chinese economy. Registering double-digit growth every year since the introduction of reforms almost two decades ago, Shanghai's ever-rising skyscrapers have come to represent the seemingly limitless possibilities of China's future. Shanghai is the seat of Mainland China's largest stock exchange and busiest port, as well as the headquarters of a growing number of corporations—a status Shanghai is quite familiar with as the financial giants HSBC and AIG were founded here. For more than a century Shanghai has thrived as the meeting point between East and West. The city's architecture, cuisine, parks, and cultural life are a tribute to the dynamism and energy of its residents, new and old.
